EXCERPT
Jax rushed down the alleyway before she had a chance to turn around, slamming into her and pinning her up against the wall with her head turned away from him. As he touched her, his senses roared to life and he felt a rush of desire sizzling through his veins, and a very unwelcome swelling in his crotch.
He firmly tamped down his lustful thoughts, shoving them to the back of his mind as he pinned her wrists over her head against the wall, trapping her with his body and wrapping one leg around her.
God, that felt good. Way too good.
She went rigid, and didn’t bother to struggle, staring straight ahead and drawing in deep, angry breaths. Even with her face turned away he could see that she was beautiful, her cheekbones sharp enough to cut glass, her small nose tilted impishly.
Jax bent down and breathed in her sweet scent, a mixture of citrus and wildflowers and her unique feminine aroma which smelled good enough to bottle and sell in a French boutique.
“Didn’t anyone ever tell you to stay away from the big bad wolf?” he growled into her ear.
“Why no, but thanks for the advice. If I see a big bad wolf, I’ll be sure to stay away from him,” she said coolly, without the slightest quaver of fear in her voice.
Nice. A sassy one. Under different circumstances, Jax would love to have her over his knee for that. Unfortunately, odds were against them ever dating.
“Princess, you have no idea what you’re messing with. I’m flattered that you find me so irresistible, but I don’t really get turned on by chicks who stalk me. Been there, done that. I spotted you hours ago, by the way; you’re not that good.”
At that, he felt a faint tremor go through her, and he was pleased to see her jaw tighten with anger.
“You’re not turned on?” she said, moving her body against him. “So you normally carry a flashlight stuffed down the front of your pants?”

Shifter’s romance; two elements I enjoy. Add in an investigation to track down the source that is causing shifters to go into a rage and this book seemed like a good choice, especially as it was free. Unfortunately I only made it to the 61% mark and getting to that point was a real struggle due to both the content and the editing issues. Did the author even proofread what she wrote much less have a friend or editor go through it before it was published?Sexual tension and sex? Between the two we get a lot of that, much of it BDSM. If they aren’t doing it, they, or someone else, is talking or thinking about it. But romance? I don’t like either of the characters and other than for sex, they don’t like each other either.
A number of elements of the story are just unbelievable. But I finally gave up when running into a character that not only addicts girls to drugs, but then forces them to accept torture via sex to get their next fix. Granted, he’s a bad guy doing bad things, but when combined with not liking the main characters, what they’re doing and the horrible editing, I’d reached the end of my tolerance.
Perhaps the characters start to like each other later in the story. Maybe this eventually turns into a romance. And I expect that the bad guy would get caught. I find I don’t care enough to find out.

This is another book that isn’t for everyone but if you’re thinking of reading Fifty Shades of Grey…pick this book up instead. This book doesn’t fully focus on the relationship between the two but, it shows BDSM as it should be, with Jax telling Bobbi that the Submissive has full power to call anything off and the Dominant has to respect that and stop. There’s shifters, drugs, BDSM and a sassy coyote shifter who can throw back whatever the wolf shifter throws at her.
That’s all you’re getting out of me about the book itself, now onto my opinion about it. I loved it. I went into this book thinking “oh boy, another shifter novel with an alpha wolf” and I thought it was going to be like the others, been there done that. In a way, it was but, the woman was a straight up fighter who took none of his crap.
It was engaging, funny, maddening, and the whodunit factor. I wouldn’t recommend this book to everyone but, this reader may have just found another author to add to her favorite author list. I can’t wait to read the other books and I really hope that they are just as good and answer some of the questions I have about it.
This book was not quite what I had expected from the synopsis.
There is the need for it to be edited again as I found some mistakes.
The best thing about this book is the characters and some of the interactions they have with each other. My favorite characters however were not the H and h, but Pixie and Kenneth. Truthfully, I didn't like either of the main characters until I had read about 70% of the book, and I didn't really like them as a couple even in the end. The book was also a bit choppy jumping from one place or POV unexpectedly.

I could have done without some of the detailed description of Ashley's murder, and so many details of the rape, torture, and murder of other women. I understood that the author was trying to show how much of a bad guy he was, but I would have realized that without reading it in such detail.
The main reason that I gave this book three stars and not less is because of the characters. I liked all the secondary characters, and I would be interested in reading about them in their own books. So because of Pixie, Kenneth, Tyler, Dominick, and even Jennifer, I rate this book a 3 stars which to me means it's okay.
Well! Ms. St. Clair sure has a way with words, as depicted with this book! There is absolutely nothing that I did not like in this book! I loved the characters, and the plot was well thought out and executed. Bobbi Jo is an enforcer, but secretly, she has an alterior motive for being one. A motive that she holds close to her heart, and that absolutely no one knows about but herself. She also holds another secret close to her heart, one that could have her removed from the very case she requested. Jax works alone, and even though his bosses have lined him up to work with one of the enforcers on this new case, he's not happy about it, to the extent that he didn't show up for the briefing. To top off everything, he's even grumpier when he scents his fated mate following him. Who is she and what does she want? Don't they understand that he's a loner and doesn't want a mate? But who said Fate didn't have a sense of humor? It would appear that the joke is on him!
An intense, yet action packed story that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. So far on the edge that you won't be able to put it down! I know I couldn't. An excellent introduction to a new series. Can't wait for the next one.
I bought this book as soon as I got the email that it was available. Though there were a few editing issues (him instead of her - he instead of she - secondary character name change from one page to the next) the errors didn't detract too much from the story and I absolutely enjoyed this book. I have read all of Ms. St Clair's books that are available for and love them all.
Jax and Bobbi were awesome together. Their characters were developed well and their relationship progressed at the right pace as did the story and the development of the secondary characters. I am ready for the next Shifters Inc. story . . . PLEASE AND THANK YOU ! ! This is a complete story no cliffhangers (a pet peeve of mine is when books are not identified as part of a serial and I am left with a cliffhanger). I am putting in my request that the next book be Pixie's story - she was too funny - loved her character.
If you like Ms St Clair's other books you won't be disappointed - if you haven't read her yet - try it you'll love it.
