I feel in love with Tony and Sherry in book one of this series Gabe. But, you really don't need to read book 1 if you don't want too, but I liked it somewhat better than this.As in book 1 the way they speak to each other (H/h) is immature to me. But, I enjoyed the suspense and intrigue this book gave me.
There is a lot of sex, which the author does warn us about. They do fall fast but that didn't bother me because they have skirted around each other for so long, that when they let their feelings be known it seemed perfect. The Lord's name is used in vain too.
It was nice to catch up with the rest of the team and they added a bonus to this story. We do get a nice HEA and no cliffhanger plus a view almost a year in the future which put a smile on my face.
I am not going into the blurb, as many have explained it. Just what you may get out of reading it. (ljb)

Riveting suspense in the romance department and the security department. For a man who suffered a double devastating loss would he ever be able to enjoy life again? Tony fights it hard, but finds Sherrie to be more of a challenge to his heart, soul, and mind. Of course Sherrie finds herself in the middle of danger which really puts Tony on edge. Will they survive together?
I'm sure the pizza delivery boy enjoyed his big tip!

I have been following Maryann's Writting since her Fairfield series and let me start of by saying that her books keep getting better and better.
We meet Tony and the alverez security guys in her previous books. But they did not give us the gritty details on why the men are they way they are. This book however gives us the insight we all where dying to know.
Tony his all for his brothers (his men from the military) he works hard for his company but when he finally let's go of his demons from the past and let me just say those demons are real and hard ones for any man to deal with. You can do nothing but fall in love with him even more and wish above all to hug him and help him "unf*ck" things.
Sherrie is the friend and sister we all wish we had. He give all of herself and ask for nothing in return. With a past of her Own she doesn't allow it to define her but uses her knowledge of the seedy parts in life to help others.
This book is so much more than five starts to get the one clicking and fall in love with Tony and the rest of the gang! I can't wait for more!!!
Tony has given up love after losing his wife and daughter. The only problem with this theory is Sherrie. After rescuing her, he thought he would never see her again. Wrong, she is always with Jennifer, Gabe's wife. When she takes off to a cabin during a snow storm, he follows her. They spend the weekend together and she admits she has always wanted him but when they get back, he has a dream and scares her away again. He finally tells her his true feelings and they are together again.
Sherrie is a CASA worker working with a teen girl. Soon she knows something isn't what it seems but can't figure it out. Can she figure it out before it is too late?
I loved Gabe's story, but Tony's brought out every emotion. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I really like this series. The men are great. The usual big strong alpha types that leap buildings. But that's the way we like them. Two things I wasn't really on board with. I realize that"special forces" stories all seem to not be able to communicate without the f-word liberally sprinkled throughout any conversations and that doesn't bother me at all. However, in this book,Tony used "Jesus f__k" 10times just in the first 25 percent of the book. That would be about 100 times total. That did bother me somewhat.
The other thing that got to me was Sherri's CONSTANT whining that she was not good enough,blah,blah. That had me tearing my hair out. Without those two things,I would have given this a five rating.
This is a very interesting series to read. I loved Gabe, and Tony is no different. It's a series about the men from Alvarez Security Series. This is a series, but each book could stand on its own if needed. But, I would encourage you to begin with Gabe and continue from there. Each book has the same cast of characters, but each book is about a different couple. All men are Alpha Males who want to keep their beloved women safe. This story is about Tony and Sherrie. All of the books have an action feel to them as well. Each book has also touched on real life topics that most of us don't even think about. Topics like, drug rings, sex trafficking, corrupt politicians, etc. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger. Great story that will keep you engaged.
Tony Alvarez, former special forces and owner of Alvarez Security, is a hard man, a private man. A man who believes he doesn't deserve happiness. Sherrie has crawled her way up from a desperate childhood and what she sees as failure to help her drug addicted sister. She worked her way through sketchy jobs and dangerous situations to become a hard working, respected paralegal. Tony has fought himself for a year to avoid his attraction to Sherrie, she has concluded he has no interest in her. But circumstances change when Tony believes Sherrie needs his help and there's no stopping him from riding to her side. Once he makes that declaration their relationship just has to overcome their painful histories, insecurities and the danger that lurks from the criminals creating evil through unlawful labor practices and sexual predator activities. This story is well developed and written. The characters of all dispositions are realistic, as are the situations they find themselves in. The relationship Tony & Sherrie build together is one of maturity, love and respect. Although Tony has plenty of Alpha tendencies, Sherrie is more than his match with her independence. But they both learn that compromise & understanding is vital to being successful together and it's lovely to join them on this journey.
